The Best Vaporizer Temperature For Marijuana/THC Vaporization Is...

According to The Vape Critic, the best vaporizer temperature for marijuana/thc vaporization is approximately 365°F (185°C), but is better thought of as a range between 355°-385°F (180°-195°C).

2016 Best Portable Vaporizer:

The quality of your herbs and the type of vaporizer you're using have a big effect on what temp setting you should use. Each vaporizer generates heat differently and most have a slight temp fluctuation during use. As you increase the vaporization temperature past certain thresholds the various terpenoids found in cannabis are released. This is why your vapor will taste different when vaped at 350° than it does at 385°. My recommendation is to experiment yourself to find what temps suit you best. Start out low and slowly increase the temperature until you reach your desired level of strength and flavor.

I also have a post with a list of my top picks for best vaporizer pen that has some really good info about how temperature settings work with those.

Once you go over roughly 400°F you'll probably start to get an unpleasant taste from your herbs, and once you hit 445°F you're at the point of combustion, so it's recommended to refrain from raising your vaporizer's temp past that point.

The Volcano Vaporizer (one of my all-time faves) is best set at about 6 on the dial, or roughly 374°F (190°C). When you factor in the temp flux of the heating element (+/- 9°F) your actual vape temps will be between 365°-383°F (185°-195°C) as it cycles on and off. The digital model is slightly more precise with a flux of only 2.7°F. Lately I've been experimenting with increasing the temperature past 6 after the first balloon, but it's all personal preference so see what works best for you.

The Extreme-Q seems to work well set between 383°-392°F. Because of the way this vape is designed the temp up where the herbs actually get vaped will be slightly lower than the core heater temp. I guesstimate the true vape temp to be roughly 20 degrees lower which brings you down into the ideal vape zone.

On the other hand, the Vapir NO2 is the opposite and in my opinion runs hot, so I've found the ideal temp setting to be between 350°-355°F. If you put it any higher than that you might overheat your herbs and get a burnt/funky taste.

The Magic-Flight Launch Box doesn't have a heat setting so you need to determine how long to keep the batteries engaged yourself. Taking small, quick draws is usually the most efficient way to use this vape and this method helps keep the temp from getting too high inside the chamber.

defintly 350 is for pussys, you will achieve no couch lock at this temp, and isnt that what were all lookin for??? the dumb high... yep anyways 375-390 is great temp for beginners considering there gonna hate vaping the first time if they start at 350, i noe i did

Dumb high no not even what we lookfor
this is enlightenment a lift for productivity
not to stare at walls and feel dumb don't discrace the herb with

volcano is a start. And anywhere from 335 to 375 seems the smoothest

I have used mine on many different temps I started at 375 when I first got it and it works and tastes a little smoky so I looked into it and turned it to 330 and it gives you a nice mellow working type high kinda heady less body but still nice I have found that this 365 a good temps for most TCH however 30's seem to burn a little lower and faster due to the quality and amount of THC in the bud but you still get a good feel and taste either way however, the more you turn it up the harsher hit you will recieve because you are vaping faster and more completely the THC. I acctually turn mine all the way up but I'm kinda a hype lol. ttys 2

Anonymous said...

Just received ( and used )my Volcano vaporization system. German engineering is second to none!! I laugh to think: Why have I waited so long to purchase one? Oh, and Viva la BC bud !!

Anonymous said...

i started out with 410, and got stupid high!! recently ive had it on 390ish...seems to work good..but im planning on bringing the temp down some per comments...gonna start off around 365...letchu know how it goes later

Anonymous said...

Start it at 400....when you pop on your bag jump to 420 on low fan setting. Trick is to warm you glass for 30 min. prior to vaping. Not sure about the science, but trust me if your stuff is good you'll dig this formula.
Happy Vaping

what if you dont have a digital vaporizer, than how can you know the temp?

Steve said...

I know that for the Classic Volcano (not digital) it tells you in the manual what the temperature is for each heat setting, not sure about other vaporizers though, but I'm assuming they do also, check your manual

i use a vapir one 4.0 and it's great i set at 377-8 degrees F. just hot enough to still give fat rips without burning your herbs and will still last awhile.

Why would you do that

dumb ass! probally is no good! lucky for it wasnt much!

I've been at this for a month and enjoy 320-330F

Jesus said...

no you shouldnt have lost any potency if anything you should gain some potency. I think that THC-acid decarboxilates into THC during this process, in other words a lesser phsycoactive canibinoid is converted into a higher phsycoactive canibinoid. But in the future if decarboxilating your weed turn the temp down to around 140 or so. Either way tho THC doesnt evaporate until 314 F anyways so I think you should be fine.

Vaporizer used: Volcano Digital
Plant Quality: High end Medicinal grade California.
Time: 4 months.

What I have found:
If you are using exceptional quality plants, then you should take the time to painstakingly prune the buds with tweezers (grinders are too messy and much of the crystals get left behind). Use tweezers to pull off a a few pieces and place them in the chamber. Not much, just a enough to loosely cover the floor of the chamber(not completely, but mostly). Now flash vaporize the small amount...Turn the vaporizer up to 390-400 F. The vapor will be very clear, but very potent.

My experience when using lower grade plants...keep the temperature lower around 360-365 to prevent getting a smoky bag of choke.

I dont have the Volcano vaporizer but i have the Phantom which is the same as the volcano digit with the easy valve set. I figure that the best temperature to use is 380 and 400. what i do is grind up a lil in order to cover the whole camber screen usually like a 0.15 or 0.2 grm the first ballon at 380 with the same plant 390 for the second bag, and for the last bast i use it at 400 for a smokier vapor. and thats how it works, even doug im a fan of the vaporizer i still prefer to smoke a blunt how ever with the vaporizer i do smoke less in blunts and get 10 times higher with less than smoking blunts. but a blunts and 3 vapor bags is eaqual to 15 blunts. so DIGITAL PHANTOM is the same as Volcano and uses the same pices as the volcano.

Steve said...

I'm with ya man, I love vaping but I still love my blunts, can't give them up. That's pretty cool about the Phantom, how much does it cost? I've never heard of it.

Anonymous said...

I have a vaporite and I do heat it up a little before I put the stuff on it. It sends vapor almost as soon as the herb touches the heater. I start at 400F and then take it down to 300F. It's definitly better than smoking. I have alot less junk in my lungs. It is a different feeling, for sure. My chest sometimes feels heavy when I smoke, but not when I vape. A really good investment for a medicinal user.

Anonymous said...

you are still vaporizing at to high of a temperature
between 338 degrees f and 350 degrees f
you should be able to vaporize the same medicine 6-8 times
after that nothing but dirty cannibinoids

Anonymous said...

In regards to paranoid androids post:
not only is it okay to bake your weed at 200 degrees but it will actually get you higher. At 200 degrees another chemical in marijuana is activated; cannabidiol. I know a few patients who will bake their vaporized marijuana on a baking sheet at 200 degrees and then put the weed into capsules and ingest it orally or make butter/canna oil out of it. This has been described to me as being similar to a painkiller type of high. Cannabidiol is usually ineffective to those who smoke versus vaporize or cook because it burns away at a much lower temperature than the prodominent chemical that gets you high: thc. In summary if you smoke consider trying this method

used many different vaps before. BC Vap (junk) vapo-brothers (works well, but can be difficult finding the right temp.) the V-tower(a cheper version of the volcano. works well!) But The volcano is by far the most effective. You can also feel the quality that is in this product. everything about it screams quality.

I have the classic and i use it at setting of 5.5 to start with brand new herb. then once i have stired it up and vapes it a 2nd time. I take it out. re-grind it up and put it though again at 6.5-7 i get 3 big bags out of it and boy am i every flying after! at this stange the herb is pretty brown so as far as i am concerned it's done being vaped.

I also save my "used" product and use it with the stems and shake i collect. I then make butter out of it and do some baking.

hey i just recently got a vape andim not sure if the temp gauge is off but i seem to be able to get a pretty solid vapor that gets me pretty stoned at like 230-280 anything more then that and the bud turns almost instantly black. any info?

Anonymous said...

hmm that sounds like the temp gauge might be off... i've never been able to get good hits with it that low, but anything is possible

Anonymous said...

Yeah i just got my vaporizer yesterday, with some of those legalbuds omg delicious, i have a easy vape i set at about 325.

Anonymous said...

Everyone listen up, im not sure what type of bud your vaporizing, but the buds we have here are vaporizing at 200-215F, and anyone saying that there buds turn dark and black really fast at higher temps, like over 300F are 100% right about that, why would you want such rapid vaporizing of the buds because you know your going to get other carcinogens that you dont want. If you cant get high on the vapors at 200-215F, there's something wrong with you. LOL!!

Jaime said...

anything higher than 385F you run the risk of burnig your herbs. 355F-375F is perfect

i used 420 the first two weeks i had it now i'm down at 385...

I started down around 325, and have slowly worked up to 355. This temp seems to get me some kickin' hits without scorching the plant. WEEEEE!

Not sure what I am doing wrong or if our Phantom vap is not working right. I have the setting on 400 (which is the highest) and I'm barely barely getting any smoke or anything out of it.... any ideas or am i just screwed?

JimmyD said...

Hmm, i would say make sure that you're letting the vaporizer heat up long enough, most need at least a few minutes. If you're letting it heat up properly, you're grinding up your herb real good, and you still don't get a good hit there may be something wrong with your unit.

Is this your first time vaping or no?

Sometimes beginners don't realize how much lighter the vapor is than smoke, but if you know what you're doing and you still can't get good hits there might be something wrong with the vape.

Anonymous said...

Hey Jimmy.... i have used another kind of vap before. The directions said to heat up only for a few seconds and i've increased the time to about a minute. I will go ahead and let it set for a little longer. Shouldn't there be some type of color to the smoke?

JimmyD said...

Cool, i have the Volcano and i have to let mine heat up for about 3 minutes before i can use it, i'd say it's probly the same for yours.

And yes, you should see the vapor if everything is working correctly

I got a vapor one 5.0 for 150 and let me tell you guys it is so worth it if you don't have like 600 bucks for a volcano it is , it has 3 fan speeds digital temperature gauge and works very well . And what I always do is start from 190 c. For the first bag and then 195 c. For the second one And 200 c. For the last one . I usually do 3 bags every bag gives me 3 deep hits and when I'm done I'm high as fuck ....I do all of that with a full bowl (vaporizer bowl) in conclution just experiment diferent temperatures and you'll see

Anonymous said...

I live in Utah where the altitude is a lil higher and shit works perfect at 215-240. Any more than that and the bud just blackens and ruins the whole point of a vaporizer. I don't have a volcanoe of anything special but it does have a digital read out of the temp.

Anonymous said...

I start mine at 340 and gradually work my way up to 370, usually at this point the flavour of the herb changes and you can tell that you are starting to burn it. anyways, you can start off at a higher temperature but there really isn't a need to do so unless you have some very wet herb. At this lower temperature you will still 'see' the vapour, while the flavour is strong and incredible, varying greatly between different strains. it will depend on the bud, but i find the high creeps up on you very slowly vaping this way; much different than any form of smoking, that's for sure!

Hey Leethal, Just a heads up on the Zephyr Ion, they are coming out with a whip attachment for it as well :) My Zephyr just came in the mail today and will be breaking it in this week :)

just got volcano digit, it's a lot of money but it's worth it, only had it for couple days and i believe 350-370 F is a good guidleine, as Da Buddha said above as well as several others, after 370-380, your herbs will start to blacken rather than turn brownish-yellow, anyone thinking on purchasing a vaporizer if u got the disposable income and you want something reliable go with the cano, the classic has extra year warranty (Classic 3 yr/digit 2 yr), but it should continue to work well outside warranty, hope this helps ..

I finally got my first vaporizer Never had used one before and want to know what the big deal was! So I researched to get best bang for the buck. I choose Arizer Extreme 4.0. Like everyone else had to see and taste the smoke. Used 215-220C = 392-428 Did we get buzzed. With more reading and realized we were too high in temp. Now I use half as much and use 185-190C. Also the cyclone bowl needed some modification, took a Dremel tool and ground the hole so only 1/16" remained around the edge, just enough to hold screen in place. Hugh difference now air flows through much better and only use low fan speed with just 1/4" covering screen can fill two turkey bags. The whip also works really great also, You can lightly pack really good Keef of bud into top screen and puff or use 1 or 2 fan and get great hits. Since I started to Vape I cannot stand to smoke or know why I ever did.

390-415 on my Volcano Digit was pretty fucking awesome for me. Im so fuckin High .....

I just got a Vap-King off Ebay for under $50 and I must have gotten lucky because despite all the bad reviews mine works fantastic! It has a digital temp setting and I have been using it at around 315 to 320 degrees (kelvin) and it has been getting me so incredibly stoned. I am using half the herb and getting twice as lifted, I cannot believe I waited this long. I'm thinking about modifying a nasal cannula (you know, one of those things old people strap under their nose for their oxygen) and strap it on for some major video game zoning, ha ha!!

What is the best way to use the kheef screen in my grinder? I am not exactly sure what it is for or what it's supposed to do. Thanks, y'all!

OK The temperature you use for each strain can be different. You have to go by trial and error to test for the best temperature for each strain. Myself, i prefer the high heat . I also believe that each person will prefer a different heat from another, 420 always &4ever /gramapeachz

I have a vaporite vr-001 asian box lol. Got it for 30$ from the arabs. It came with no whip so i ebayed it. I think the temp gauge may lie but it vaporizes at 270-290ish and tends to burn at anything over 300 F. I get stoned as hell off it and it doesnt conserve as good as i thought it would. How much do put in the whip? I use like a quarter gram.

Best tip ever is to Start at a low temp. Then move up. Lower temps for a smoother better tast also good for Asthma.
Higher temps for killing you lungs.
Not all herb burns off at the same temp. Start low. fill you vapor bag 3 to 5 times. then turn the temp up a little.
Its just herb. Its not like using a higher temp will improve you high. better herb will.

Higher temps cause smoke inhalation.
Its amature hour here and this guy knows nothing. That instant buzz, is not the THC working. Its your lungs screaming at you to stop. Your brain needs O2 and you are suffocating. Just go get some WhipIts Smart guy. I am a grower and user. Getting high is so much better than that fist buzz.

Unknown said...

I have had the volcano and a vaoplution, but the one i lioked hands down, the most, is the extreme q vaporizer. it has a remote, lifetime warranty and digital display. you can also use the whip, instead of bags. +++
however the temp to set these bad boys at, is 405. Now before you all get in my face and tell me why it should be lower, hear me out. when takin a hit, hold it in for twenty to thirty seconds and you will ghost the hit (you can;t see the exhaling vapors.) the benefit to this is that you get
ALL THE T.H.C. you don't blow half of it out. inside your lungs, are little sacks that absorb the air in the lungs, and push it through to oxygenate the blood. When ghosting your hits, it all gets absorbed. Tip: when holding your breath for a ghost hit, try taking little sips of air every few seconds, to help your tired lungs hold their breath. make sure you're sitting down when you try it. and back to the temp, 400 is just above the boiling point for the thc, so if your unit varries in temp + or - 5 deg. F. your still golden. if it works well for you, lemme kknow. Greenmoto@hotmail.com

Anonymous said...

I also own the Phantom vap. It takes a good 15 mins to heat up and 330-350 is a great setting. Once you can seee the orange glow in the top of the unit its hot enough to vape. Works just like the volcano at a third of the price.

Temperature should not determine the effect of the marijuana you smoke. That is dependent upon your particular type of herb.

Your sativas will give you a clear heady high and your indicas will give you the "couch lock".

I have been vaporizing for about one year. I have found that with all of the machines I have used - 365F, (just like the above thread starts with), is the PERFECT temp for the best, most potent, tasty and herb conserving...inhalation.
I use a medium low fan setting. I dry the *herb* crispy dry, to maintain consistency. It eliminates the guess work of: Herb moisture to heat ratio. I have tried EVERY conceivable combos of settings, and this is what I found to be the very best. Hands down.

dont worry u dont need to get a volcano, the money you have to pay is no worth it and from what ive experienced, you need to use the bag for the volcano EVERYTIME u cant sit with a whip and it has only 1 fan speed/ not only that...the bag for a volcano CAN be adapted to a V-Tower, with a little imagination I DID IT and the 210 temp is enuf even for this years crop!

Anonymous said...

I like to vape at around 350. It does depend on the herb for the kind of high you get. More specifically, it depends on when the buds were harvested. If you look at the trichomes under high magnification on the buds , different characteristics denote different stages of the flower's degradation and different levels of THC to CBD and CBN. When the trichomes are milky to clear and still fairly straight, this gives more of an upper and heady high. After a little time on the plant the trichomes start to curve and turn amber and this is what gives more of a body high and that "couch lock."

Anonymous said...

first time i used one..it tasted like burnt oregeno..which it isnt..so maybe temp was too high, but caught a buzz anyhow : ) next time no higher than 375F.

Vapir no2 is aww some. Battery is kinda sketchy but you'll get about three or four twenty minute sessions despite what the battery meter says. Using it between 340 and 360 right now. 360 gets kinda scratchy but a little improv running it thru a bong is great. I use it at work and as long as someone is smoking a cigarette we're goods far as smelling it goes. Bar is 420 friendly to the extent they're cool as long as noone can smell or tell. This makes it so much easier. Had my ivape hot box up there but all the glass and whip made it sketchy. This goes anywhere. Keeping it plugged in during initial heating keeps battery life way up too. I'm high as hell rambling on so you
know it's legit.

And I only paid 150 for the before mentioned vapir no2. Pk-tx is tx isn't overpriced when they have deep discount coupons hidden online. It's called the no2 because it's the shit. And it fits in a large crack in the sack cup. The straw even fits snugly in the no2's nipple. Right thru the lid. Driving around you look like you're just guzzling cola goodness. Bags are bogus brah. Sing karaoke with the no2 and you'll be thru. My boy fell asleep at work last week. Not workin with Cali good but workin with Austin tx good and we're good in tx. Buy it try it pry it from your friends hands and make them buy their own.

I just got my Extreme Q recently. I get the same high or better, from 1/3rd of the herb I used to smoke for the same high. I have done plenty of research and experiments, and 385-390F is about the highest you want to go. Any higher and you will inhale a lot of toxics with very little additional THC. Here are my tips if you want to get the most out of your bud:

1. Don't go over 390 F

2. Use a small batch, don't fill up the bowl. You will get much more out of the same amount of bud if you use a small amount each time.

3. Grind your bud well, and stir it from time to time between the bags. You might want to consider re-grinding after a couple of bags.

4. About 40-50% of the THC in the vapor is not abosrbed by your lungs, they go away with your exhale. You can use a seperate plastic bag (or your vaporizer bag if you are the only one using it) to catch the exhale and use it again (2-3 times max).

I just got my Phantom Digital today at a local smoke shop. I've been reading up vapes for a few months, trying to figure out which one I wanted and could afford. Almost as bad as buying a damn car...I TELL U! (Sorry, had to. I love that cafe scene in that movie - lol!)

Anyhoo, I've been vaping since about 3:00pm today off and on, and I've tried a couple different herbs from a few places around my neighborhood. This is what I've found:

1- Vaped Cirus Haze at around 350 degrees. Pulled two bags off that and didn't see any vapor at all. Was medicating with another patient and she asked me to turn the heat up. I was feeling it by that time, but my tolerance is low. She wasn't and hers is off the charts. The third bag at 380 did the trick for her. This was all with the same bowl of herbs. I didn't let the herb sit in he bowl on the vaporizer for a few seconds before blowing up the 1st bag, and I think that is a critical step.

2 - My husband (also a 420 patient) came home and vaped some Mothers Finest. He tried 350 but didn't like it. We went to 370, and about half way, we saw some vapor, so we turned it back down. Again, didn't "pre-heat" the herbs for a few seconds before starting the fan.

3- Vaping (currently) some Blue Dream that might be a few weeks old (kept in glass). I preheated the herb, set the unit to 350, and got some instant vapor.

Summary: Pre-heat your herbs in the holder for 15-30 seconds before putting on the bag and starting the fan. I say not to put the bag on because I did, and didn't hold the bag up straight and the heat at top of the herb holder melted some of the bag together.

I personally think that the post towards the top of this thread is accurate - temp depends on the strain and the moisture content of the herb.

Hope this helps somebody. I know I appreciate a well written review of herbs and accessories.

Have two vaporites. A solo and solo digital. If the herb is really good you can vape 180 and up to 280 or 300. 320 would be max unless its swag then 350 or slightly higher but this is not an actual temperature on this particular model. I've vaped for years and used very many types. This is the rule of thumb:Turn heat all way up until light goes out. On vaporite this is 560. Now turn it down to half or 280. Put the whip on and this is your STARTING POINT. From here you can decide if you can go higher or lower depending on your herb. This is the same way we used the old type models with no temp display. Heat all way up and turn knob halfway down as starting point. Only use .3 of a gram and can be packed firm. Only light toking is necessary though you can hit it hard and cough it out if it's good enough. I know this from years of experience and it's true that most people are vaping at too high of temp. Remember, Vaporite is not actual temp like on volcano. Hope this will help some people better understand vapos. Give it a try. Lower temps give different buzzes than higher temps. Depends on if you want buzz, stone, for pain, couchlock, etc.

I have had my vape for some time now and all i use is highs from the dispensaries and i run mine 290-350 depending on the moisture, strain, and quality you dont want to burn the herb but heat it just enough where you can see the vapor but when you exhale there is little to no vapor

I have been using the Phantom for about a month now. I have been smoking for over 20 years and never heard of vaping my smoke. I like turning the Phantom on 400...The highest it can go...I smoke swag, you know, the seedy shit...but put that same swag inside of the Phantom Vaporizer...put the temp on 400, and by your fourth bag...your turning the machine off..cuz your high a fuck!!Lower Temps are for Pussys...and that is stupid for them to say that is too high and its like smoking it..because the weed is still in the chamber..its just brown after vaporized...if you try smoking the shit in the chamber after it has been vaporized...then you will see how much a vaporizer saves your lungs...because the stuff in chamber has no high when smoked after vaporized..so my temp is always set to 400 for smoking swag....

365 is the best temp for a volc vaporizor...with the temp going up or down 5-15 degrees based on how wet or dry it is

ya on the Volcanoe Classic 6 1/2 if perfect for mostly all bud- i have personally found that for bubba hash and other solid extracts, it should be burnt at about 8 1/2. liquids higher as well, dont forget the special oil screen!

With my Vapir Vapormatic Deluxe, about 330F seems to be where I start getting serious flow with some fresh Bubba Kush. I seem to start getting more of a less-desirable smoky flavor over 350F. Lower temps seem to give a cleaner high, since THC vaporizes at a bit lower temp than the other cannabinoids. In my experience, higher temps set off the other cannabinoids, providing the couch lock effect if that's what you're looking for.

anything over 375 and you are defeating the purpose of vaporizing. Also unless you have a nice one, the temp reading is probably not very accurate. trial and error is the best because all the different styles and types of vapos

Just bought the NO2 for my bf for christmas. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the temp, also is a grinder necessary. it says fill it 3/4 of way full but is that packing down or just putting it in there?

jimmyD said...

awesome gift!! try 350 to start and u'll be able to tell fairly quickly if u need to go up or down in temp. Grinding the doobage before putting it into the chamber is highly recommened, u'll get better hits. And don't pack it down tight, you want the hot air to be able to flow freely through the herb for the best effect. Hope this helps and merry xmas!

Just got the vaporite solo for Christmas, & started vaping at 365 F after doing some online research on similar sites. We vaped sour diesel at that temp & got super stoned. But most of the advice I was reading was for the volcano. A friend who has a vaporite suggested 265 & I thought that sounded low, but then I found this site & saw that a lot of other people who have a vaporite vape at lower temp readings, & that the temp read outs on these aren't accurate anyway. All I know is that I gave the lower temp a try & 4 me, the perfect setting 4 sour diesel on the vaporite solo is 270! Who cares if it's a blizzard outside; I'm gettin' blizzerd inside ;-)

Hey, I'm looking to get my first vaporizer, and I'm thinking of the Vapir No2. Anybody know anything about how good or bad it is?

Anonymous said...

Just picked up the No2.
It sorta resembles a sonicare toothbrush. Very easy to use. Does the job well.
Only complaint is that the unit sucks the battery dry w/in 10mins of continuous use (at 380 degs setting) so you can't really walk around w/ it unplugged (if that is your thing).
Not a bad deal for $150, mine came w/ a bunch of extra screens, mouthpieces, & a cheapie grinder.

What r we looking for in vapor consistancy? IS it the border between heavy haze and no haze at all? I have been successful at enjoying the effects of my vape so far but wanna make sure I am maximizing the effects of the vape and the product. Thanx

Anonymous said...

Launch Box your dumb sorry. It should not turn out a "darker green" when your done. It should look like its been lightly burned with a lighter shade of brown if it's indica and a darker shade of brown if Sativa. And MOST of you guys have it all wrong. You should start your vape at a temp no higher than 350 F at the most. THEN...you should raise the temp slowly every few minutes therefore getting the benefit of every temp setting and getting the absolute most out of your cannabis. That mostly if you get Top shelf medical grade or equal. You'll save money this way. Follow this method you wont be disappointed - ZACK

Anonymous said...

Pretty much what buddy above me said is correct. According to a study done by some californian organization for medical pot (http://www.scribd.com/doc/294969/Medical-Marijuana-Vaporizer-Study) The ideal temperature to vaporize is around 185C or 365F and carcinogens and other toxins started to appear in vapors at 200C or 395F so those people that are going up to 400F and over are not fully reaping the benefits of their vaporizers. You don't have to taste the burn to get high!

Anonymous said...

CBD;s are what give you the happy in your high.THC in its pure form is quite depressing.Google studies of iv use of pure forms of cbd and thc individually or cbd+thc combined=happy.Strains high in CBD are the best medical strains for higher overall quality of life. After you have that down grab a volcano.

For whatever it's worth I have a Vaporite vaporizer I'm using a 100% sativa strain and I find the best results for this particular model are starting out at about 290 degrees Fahrenheit progressively moving up to about 310-315 deg F. Again I'm not sure as to how a accurate the digital read out is in comparison of the actual temperature but I'm just stating my particular experience. My herb is fairly fresh, about 4 days old from the dispensary and was fresh when purchased. It's just now starting to lose its tackiness when pulling apart. But I remember the instructions that came with the Vaporite saying your exhale should be almost smokeless, just faint. So that's how i achieved my results. I don't know about if the "almost smokeless" statement is true or not or if it applies to marijuana, but im almost certain that's what it said. Hope this helps, Stay real my friends

We just got a V-tower Extreme today, and we're new to vaporizing. How do you know when the weed in the bowl is spent?

Anonymous said...

when the weed is brown and dry

Anonymous said...

Have had a digital volcano for over 4 years after hitting the lottery for 10k. I did alot of research as well as field experience and between 365 & 385 F is optimal, the vapor should not be too dark and always stir the contents of bowl around after each bag. The vapor is sweet and tasty in a hash like way. You can tell when it is spent because the taste is gone. Going over 390 F starts to release benzene, a harsh and harmful compound. I think it is well worth the investment 600 plus for the easy valve. The future is here just a little pricey but your health is worth it I feel.

Anonymous said...

600 is extremely steep, when a digital controlled hands-free vaporCannon knock-off is under $60 shipped from eBay with all the fixings. I'm sure the downfalls would be understandable for 1/10 the cost. Even the vapir one can be had for 1/6 that cost (same style as the volcano), or for a bit more the NO2 which is their battery operated portable unit!

The volcano is very nice, and works a treat - but common sense can be used rather than digital control to know if you are burning or not heating enough. I can't possibly see spending the extra $540 would add THAT much value compared to how much material that would offset.

Here is my thing: I vaporized with all of the more expensive vapors with all different kinds of bud in good quality. Volcano, Arizer Extreme Q 4.0, Aromed 4.0, and what not. There is no doubt, the Volcano is one of the best, has a smart system and works great. It's with no doubt an excellent quality product and all of the other mentioned products are worth the money too. However, I think the latest model from Arizer is for me the best. And I'm saying specifically for me, other people have other expectations. The extreme q has a ceramic heater, where the Volcano only has an aluminum heater. It makes the extreme Q much lighter, smaller and ceramic is much more durable. And everybody knows with how many accessories it comes. Furthermore, only because it's a lighter product doesn't mean it's worse quality. Arizer just didn't use as much metal and made it's product much smaller and therefore it's lighter. Buttons, remote control, all the glass parts, everything is high end quality made in Canada. People who say the balloon doesn't work as well as with the Volcano are lazy asses. Come on, only because you have to get up and you need two hands to take them apart, that's just pathetic. Not to mention that you can find even the newest Arizer model for 200 with shipping included, whereas the cheapest Volcano is around 500. To conclude, if you really want less accessories, a heavier, bigger and 300 dollar more expensive product, that doesn't even come with a digital display, and is as loud as your grandmothers vacuum then go for it. Unless you are not one of those who smoke herbs and buds like a decent interested everyday smoker, you won't taste any difference. All of those Vapes definitely will get you high and save your bud you burnt before :)

Something must be wrong with my vaporizer since people say that 370 burns their herb, turning it black. I have the volcano digit, and when I put that thing on 400, 425, 430, it still never turns black. Just brown, light brown at that.... Is something wrong with my vaporizer ? Is it not getting as hot as others' volcano digit does?
I put my volcano at 350, and it stays green all the way up to about 392, then it starts turning brownish, but certainly not black by ANY means, and FARRRR from burning, even when put up to 440F. Help.

stovanovich said...

You know what, I'm thinking about it as I read your question and realizing that my Volcano never turns my bud black, but my other vaporizer (Magic Flight) does sometimes. In my opinion, the Volcano is just really good at what it does, and rarely turns weed black even at higher temps.

I wouldn't worry about it, I don't think anything is wrong with your unit.

By the way, how friggin awesome is the volcano? I've had the classic for two years now and can't get enough of it, I love it. I still smoke a joint or bowl every once in a while to switch it up but I always come back to the volcano. I recently got the Magic Flight launch box and started using that a lot too. It's really small and totally silent so its easy to carry around or take "sleeper" hits in random places lol

I have the volcano classic. I usually pack about 1cm of bud into the solid valve and start my bags at about 340F (4.33 approx. on the classic dial). I slowly turn it up in about three or four intervals with 3-5 bag inflations between each time I increase the temperature. I stop after a couple bag inflations at 396F (7 on the volcano classic dial). I find that I get decently milky bags, nowhere near as milky as when you start over 380F (6.25 on dial) but still visible vapor and an obvious taste. I find this easier to inhale and that it lasts significantly longer and that I get significantly higher before the word is completely burned out.

datpiff said...

you guys are all talking F right? mine is C what should the temp be at and how many bags should i be getting per bowl?

stovanovich said...

Yes in general the ideal temperature range is about 365 to 385 degrees Fahrenheit, which is about 185 to 195 degrees Celsius. When I put my Volcano at this temp I usually get 4 to 5 bags of vapor, but the first two are really the good ones.

Anonymous said...

..380 .. and pull light..slow and easy allowing the temp to boil the bubbles up to the stars. then again nice and easy.. provok the vapir to slither up the tube then asume its going to creep up on ya ...dont suck hard or worry u wont b high cuz its very light and not harsh tasting.. but surly packs a punch..

Steve said...

How about you start at 220F at sea level just to dry it for a bit and then go up to 285F to get the lowest THC and then after no more smoke, go up to 335. Or save it and try it the next day and see if there really was anything left or if it was all just CO making you dizzy? That sounds like the scientific way.

Im sure moisture plays a big part. You can vap at a lower temp in a dryer climate like Colorado but need a higher temp for a humid climate like Houston.

I'm trying to determine the healthiest setting for my Flame Cube vaporizor due to mouth pain. Do you think if I go at a lower temperature than the suggested 365 degrees F that I could eliminate more toxins from the smoke? I quit tobacco and alcohol in an effort to fix the mouth problem, and I am trying to vaporize instead of smoke when it hypothetically comes to the other thing! Anyways, I also need to see my dentist again and figure out what's going on. Thanks for any advice you may have!

Bud Dank said...

Hey thanks for commenting - you can definitely try vaping at a lower temperature than 365 degrees to see if you are happy with the effects. Some people say they achieve good results with lower temps and it suits them well. I don't believe there are many (if any) toxins in the vapor at 365, so I don't think lowering the temp would help too much in that regards though.

timmyboy_420 said...

it really all depends on the vape itself.. iv had a box vape, a volcano, and now i own a NO2 VAPIR.. my box vape could only be set about 220F to 300F and at 300 it would kinda blacken the herb... on my volcano it was more along the lies of 285F to 350F would get the best vapor without blackening your herb... but with the NO2 VAPIR its again different... really working best from 350F up to 400F which is the max setting... and it will never blacken your herb at all... hope this helps cuz it took me alot of burnt herb to figure this one out lol

Anonymous said...

350 is wayyy to high! lol no pun intended. but its best to heat up the vape at a little bit higher temp. then i cool mine down to around 250 sometimes lower to produce an optimum high and smokeability.

Anonymous said...

For the guy who says "350° is for pussys and do it at almost 600°" is a dumb ass. There is no point in a Vape if you are just burning it.The inside of a flame is 580° so get your facts straight noob.

Anonymous said...

Ok lets be sure we are talking correct scale here.. remember many units dispaly celsius not farenheit so if you want around 390f it is 200c.I tried it at 230 c got a flaming bud and harsh choking bag of crap smoke.Of course there are other variables too such as moisture content to consider.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget to consider how dry your bud might be. If you have really dank buds, crank it up to 255°f MAX... and if your bud is on the dry side keep it at 245°f - 250°f... I'd suggest saving up your vaporized weed and cook up some special baked goods with it :) much love

Anonymous said...

Somebody way back made an extremely valid point about altitude, this will greatly effect the temp of vaporization, as well as weather related pressure, humidity, and the moisture content of the weed.

I have 3 vapes...Phantom Digi, Vapit NO2 and a Launch Box.

They each have their own purpose. The Phantom is a Volcano knock off. It looks the same, but can only set the temp in increments of 10 degrees. The bags suck...they melt. So you should plan on buying some replacement bags from the manufactures of the Volcano. Other than that, it works the same as the Volcano, and it less than $200 with shipping.

The Launch box is great to take with you to a party or a sports game, where you want to seek off and grab a quick puff. No temp control, but with a little experimentation, you can figure it out rather quickly.

My favorite is the Vapir NO2. It's the perfect device. Small enough to be portable, wireless, you can get a car charger for it, and it is the easiest to operate and clean...IMHO. Not that great for more than two users because the bowl piece is small. For large groups, buy a Phantom. But for you and one other lucky friend, The Vapir NO2 blows them all away...did I mention it's silent and heats up in less than 2 minutes???

Temperatures I find the best:

Phantom - 360 degrees. It beeps like it has heated up to your desired temperature in 5 minutes, but I've found it's best to let it sit for 10-15 minutes for it to truly reach the temperature you set it to.

Launch Box-No temp gage, gotta figure out how long to keep the battery in.

Vapir NO2 - Best one, but I find it runs hot. I prefer around 350-360 is best, depending on the herb type and quality.

Hope this helps!

I have the volcano and agree with your new assessment that changing temperatures is best. The photos seem to reveal there is more to get from the herb, that is why my wife and I cook the already vaped stuff into a pressure cooker with butter or oil and then sift out the remnants through a coffee filter. The butter is STILL POTENT and the baked goods come out great!!! RECYCLED POT!

I've just started using my Volcano classic. I find using a 6 (374F) or 6.5(385F) setting works the best for me. I seem to only get one good bag, though. After that it tastes horrible. How is it, that other people report getting two or even several more bags? Am I doing something wrong? I get a very strong effect that I'm very happy with and the stuff looks and smells like it's spent. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

Bud said...

Hey man, that doesn't sound right to me so let's figure out what's goin on.

For me, set at 6 or 6.5, it never tastes bad, no matter how many bags I vape out of it, and at that setting I get up to 6 bags. Maybe your herbs aren't ground up fine enough? are you makin sure its real fine before you put it in the chamber?

Also do you have the Easy Valve or the Solid Valve kit? maybe something is wrong with how yours is set up or something... I'm just throwin out ideas.

I never heard anyone have these complaints about the Volcano so I'm sure whatever it is can be fixed.

Let me know as many details as you can and I'll do my best to help you out.

Anonymous said...

Got my volcano 2 years ago and have tried just about every possibility, including vape bong hits. Don't do that though because the water holds your vapor and lowers the amount of hit you get.

Anyways, I'll try to break it all down to the best method for use that I have found. A couple of tips first

Tip 1 - Hold in every hit as long as possible. this is like 3x as long as a bong hit. Vapor doesn't penetrate into your body as fast so you must hold it to get as much as possible absorbed. This is ok because it's safer than smoke.

The Solid valve is much better for filling bags than the easy valve because you can hold the chamber 1 cm off the bag for 5-10 seconds before you click them together, allowing the herb to heat up to temp before the bag gets all the cool air. When you see vape coming out, click and your bag gets full of nice thick steam.

tip 3. Get yourself 3 tupperware containers. Label 1 cool, 1 medium, and 1 hot. This way you can keep your herb separate and maximize the amount of chems you extract.

tip 4 grind before every vape

Tip 5: Revaping is GREAT. Unfortunately, flavor molecules vape at lower temps so you lose the good flavor. You can make up a little bit by adding citrus fruit zest or minced herbs like lavender or mint.

Tip 6: you will cough, not because it's smoke damaging your lungs, but because the thc irritates the tissue as it goes into the blood. Don't worry it's not doing the damage that smoke would do.

So there's basically 4 ways to load a bowl with the volcano.
(+/- to taste) grams/farenheit
1. less herb less heat 0.5g/360 awesome flavor, barely high
2. less herb more heat 0.5g/400
great flavor, good high
3. more herb less heat 0.75g/375
good flavor great high
4. more herb more heat 0.75g/400
ok flavor awesome high

I mix it up a lot, but I personally like to go for #4 but that is because I enjoy the sting from big bong hits and stuff. If you are looking for smoother, more flavorful hits by all means set it lower, and taste sensations! But you won't get anywhere near high :( Remember, more effect of herb comes from more consumption(dose) more frequently(dosage). But also, too much herb will be wasteful because you will not be able to absorb anywhere near as much steam as you are inhaling. All the stuff you see when you blow out is waste.

When I revape I add more vape-herb from my tupperware containers. I'll vape a bunch of ground up 375 stuff, and hit it up at 400 for. Taste isnt' so great but hey, if you were smoking it, it would be ash by now.

THC turns from solid to gas at 356 farenheit. Volcano website recommends 400 farenheit for marijuana.

VolcanicSacrifice said...

Use the solid valve. Buy your own turkey bags at the store (they are made for the oven up to 450).

Some herb strains give more steam than others. I had some purple kush that gave one bag only and some northern lights 5 that would actually fill the second bag MORE.

Flavor burns first, then THC, then other Cannabinoids. Some CBDs don't even change from solid to gas until they are combusted at 455 degrees.

Revaping will get you a more body high because there's less THC and more CBD/CBN. I always add more vaped herb when I revape, otherwise it doesn't get thick enough (except northern lights 5!)

Progress is *slow*, but I'm having a blast! Not even sure what brand/model vap I got yesterday.... I didn't want the cardboard box, so I left it at the store, and now I can't remember.

I am happiest at 360 (One spin)
or 365 ( big spin ) Also, was jamming the bowl with too much herbal goodness. A little dab'll do ya!

I bought a new vape recently. Basic box and tube type. I have it set at 316, sometimes 330 and the bud seems to ignite on occasion at both temperatures. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your herbs might be touching the heating element during vaping. Depending on which model vape you have you might be able to get a 2-piece whip with a better herb chamber that keeps it away from the hot parts.

After my trip to Amsterdam, once I got back to the states, I had to get one. The Vapir NO2 I'm good with. Really good for just two people or 3 depending.
I've smoked at 350F up to 391F. I find 355 to 365F (gf coughs @365) to be enjoyable. Tried 391F twice (I cough @ 390F), it's like a bad rolled joint that can be harsh on the throat.
But it blew us back quick.
I now mainly leave it on 360F but will try to run it at 285 to300F at the movie theater in hopes it doesn't give off a smell. Vapir NO2 is the shot!

got the vapir one it's a bit difficult to keep the temp steady so i start at 150 c and end at 170 c long time smoker and a big fan off vapin everybody should do it:)

I live in Vancouver Canada. We've here is very good and humid. I use the volcano digital vaporizer and find out I have to use the temperature above 400° to have a good taste and good high. Any tips?

how much weed do i place into the bowl in order to recieve max usage from my product. I feel like im waisting my stuff. which by the way is very high quality.

Anonymous said...

^ if youre using really good stuff you should only use about 0.3-0.5 grams per pack. make sure you're vaping at the right temp. you might be hitting it on too high try between 350-380.

I just got the DaVinci handheld, much like the IoLite, but elactric, not butane. About to do my first sample and thank aeveryone for the 350-400 range.

Just got the volcano digital with the easy valve.I have used one only two times before. The results are wonderful. Thanks for taking the time to do the videos... very informative in a sea of web generated bullshit

Basic question: do you break down the herb to little "crumbs" before loading it into the vaporizer, or to you stick small "as is" piece in?

Bud said...

Yes you need to use a grinder and grind material up to a fine consistency before loading your vaporizer

My vaporizer goes up to 500 F but ive had it set at 420 F .BUUUTTTT now i know better, thanks bruh!

Anonymous said...

Yeah I got a vape but unless I'm smoking it at Max(500f) it feels like its not doing anything at all even after using for 20+ minutes its an extreme q, is it just me or was anybody else like this? I've never owned a vaporizer before

Anonymous said...

I have owned my NO2 Vapir for a year and a half. I start at about 360 F and work my way to 390 in increments of 5 degrees, which happens every few hits. Its battery is old and it is no longer all that portable without the charger. It behind volcano but not by much in my opinion.

strange, I have always used my vaporizer at 180f. Anything more and it would burn

I've had my Phantom for almost a year, and I'm still in love with it. There are a few tricks to it, though:

Chuck the bags. They suck, the end. Reynold's makes a perfect replacement that you can get anywhere: turkey oven bags.

Patience. Don't turn on the fan right after the temperature beep. Wait about 10-15 minutes, until you can feel a little heat or see the heater glowing. You should turn it off between sessions, but as long as you don't wait hours between them you can turn on the fan right after it beeps.

I hope mine lives forever, or at least until I can actually afford a Volcano.

i have an arizer extreme q and a da vinci portable both around aud 220 - 250 and i am extremely pleased with both the flexability of the extreme-q is awesome and the discreteness of the da vinci is also awesome i can hold da vinci in my hands prayer style with the tip of the short whip sticking out between the first 2 fingers of my hands and the unit is completely out of sight i just look like im praying lol

hey i have a vapir rise the new vaoprizer from the vapir guys, im tryna find out what the best temp is since this device doesnt go pass 400 i remember using a volcanoe and i used it pass the 400 mark and it was crazy i just didnt like how it tasted so i dont mind using a lower temp but what do yall think the best temp is for this vaporizer

Bud said...

Hey I would say start around 375°F with the VapirRise and see how you like it.

If it's too irritating or the taste is weird try lowering a little bit, and if you don't think there's enough vapor or it's not strong enough you could try bumping up the temp a little, but I wouldn't recommend going past 400°F with any vape really, the vapor quality suffers.

Poland here, thanks for good tips!
vapir no2.

Ok, science here

THC begins to "cook" at approx. 372 F.

In variation below that or above that
Decreases potency and number
Of longevity.

You guys need to say whether your temps are F or C! But I think I am understanding what most people do, some people hit it hardcore and with high temps, and some people keep it cooler which is healthier.

I had some weed that was blowing my socks off, it was so amazing, but this new batch I got is not very good. Not sure if I'm getting immune to it or if this is just weaker than the last stuff, it does look different. Anyway this current batch I'm vaping it on full blast which on my "Plenty" is about 215 Celcius. I pack it full and vape it to death and suck every last bit of vape out of it until its all brown and gone. The Plenty cools down the vape for the first 10 minutes or so, thanks to the metal coil. But after that it gets pretty hot, so I have made a contraption of my own, 2 drinking tubes together, so its like a 6 foot long rubber drinking tube that I attached to my vape. So now I am sat at my PC, vaping with this tube. It's awesome. I probably look like some kind of hospital patient, but I've never been so content.

I think if I manage to get that good weed again, I will probably start using a lower temperature. 160 to 200 degrees Celsius is marked in green on this vapouriser and I think that is a good temperature to go with, somewhere in the middle of that. You do get gentle vapour at that temperature but it's cooler on your lungs and throat and its not as 'thick' as the hot stuff. So I'm going to try to use that temp from now on. Just wish this current weed wasn't so weak. They seriously need to look in to legalising this stuff though. My life was terrible until I started using weed. I got some and then I had all kinds of ideas on how to turn my life around and it's working, and I am not drinking alcohol anymore which was getting out of hand and now I have none! :) It's really good, they need to stop demonising it, stop the charade, and look in to how it can be helpful to some parts of society.

I keep my ez-vape at 360. Any higher and it gets a burnt toast quality. I started growing my own and will pinch off a fresh leaf and pack it between the cured bud and heating element. Try it if you can.

turn your shit on at least 15 minutes before sessions.. the reason you cant get your temp right is because you don't give it enough time to fully warm up. It don't matter what you got if it cost you 1000 or 30 dollars, let your shit warm up and your temp will always be on point.. that's number one, next you can bullshit around with whatever other technical adjustments.

Weird, I use mine at 269 F and get a smooth clear headed vapor, suppose it varies although it shouldn't between vapes.

Lol I love my fellow stoners. We all read and educate ourselves continuously to get the most for our buck but we all find our happy settings and usually we go back to them. I used a volcano type one for a while till it started giving off an odor like something was wrong so I junked it maybe I'll get the real deal next time. Now I use a box and tube one it was cheap like 40$ and works wonders. I do miss the bag and my old was easier to clean (specially that damn box tube screen.... Which by the way torch it or replace it frequent I've noticed big changes in how high get with nasty screens)
All in f•
I did my tests with both, with the 1st I started at 300 and I would only consider first go and how that initial high was, not the times I'd boost it up later. I made firecrackers 1g per with the remains on every first vape and i would only do it one run and at 300 it came out with a good bit of green left. I also would only eat one cracker starting fresh again on a new day to Guage what was remaining in there and how high that got me. I settled on 370 with the vol one and the crackers that made after I'd eat about 2-4 all at once and I'd be toast for a long as time that fixes a lot of one day and it's all a bonus high so I love that and crackers are easy as hell (organic peanut butter, crackers, new (I like .75g) remains (I like to take a ounce of remains and make 20 crackers so like 1.4g per)

The box and tube I did the same and I ended up settling on the temp 380. On both capes higher temps did get monster hits but sometimes I'd be choking after. I don't ever get super high from smoking or vaping if I don't at least get a tickle and few soft coughs here and there but I don't like choking.

My conclusion is f you want to use a lower temp and spend a lot of time and take gentle actually pleasant hits then eventually you'll prob get as much as the high temps but I don't like to spend that kinda time I like to get locked for about 10-15 then I like to make myself do stuff I enjoy my high more and like I said for me I have to cough. I'd definitely cook with all remains that aren't almost black though get all you can for your $. In the 400s I'd get pretty locked by the way but it was more of a I just content mellow idc about shit kinda high and I like the headsy highs better and I get my good crackers at those lower temps where the headsy highs are win win ;)

Just my two cent happy vaping

Ps I use az goods atm usually pretty dry but high grade I've been told it's diesel and purp and ak47 but honestly names get thrown around way too lightly most are coming from a distant relative lol. I lived in alaska for 4 years and the moist dank grade A fire I would get there I'd get a lot more vapes out of it so I just go by color and medium brown is when I stop so check your stuff often if your using something like my tube vape :)

Fire crackers I do 350•f for 30mins btw. I've done some testing on that but absolutely sure that's prefect but it works pretty freakin great so I haven't changed it up in a while. Oh and I think the highest I've ever been was when I took 6 of those with new .75g in each and I seem to remember actually tripping for a while I kept thinking I was watching down on myself from the ceiling it was actually kind of unsettling but if your brave and want to reach some new plateaus you gotta mess around with a combination of eating a almost stupid amount and when right before it crashes into you at about the 45min mark vape or smoke some and get ready. Taxis can't pick you up from the moon though so make sure your shuttle has enough gas to make it home lol

To save money, can one's favorite herbs be vaporized
with these heat sources: glue gun, soldering gun, lava lamp base (15W)? If it can't be hacked, its not good.

I made a cheapie version of the VaporGenie's ceramic filter by adding a screen OVER the herb in a water pipe (plastic OJ pint bottle and bowl made from a windstorm-downed tree branch). It was cooler (as testified by my throat) but it burnt, not vaporized. I added a third screen but it blocked the flame.

Prove YOURE not a robot!

Im using the sonic portable vaporizer (looks like a walky talky) what's a good temperature im a 1st time vapor.

ours musnt work. nothing happens at any temperature

I listened carefully and decided on 392 degrees F- well below cellulose ignition temperature. I have the Arizer Tower and at that temperature I get the effect but my lungs are EVER so grateful!

If anyone can find & post a link to the phase diagram for THC it would be most helpful for this thread.

Bottom line is you are all (or at least almost all) correct. There are so many variables effecting the ideal temp to vape at, here are the obvious ones;
- type and condition/age of the herb
- humidity content
- grind consistency, how fine a grind
- pack consistency, how tightly packed and how much volume
- type and design of the vaporizer
- accuracy of the temp reading (I believe the Volc Digit is reasonably accurate, the others can be off wildly or can be spot on depending on luck)
- your own preferences in taste, thickness, strength
All you can do with your own particular vape is experiment until your happy, and once happy with what you are getting whose to say you are wrong. Start low and work up or start high and work down, or start in the middle and go both ways. Experience is what will do it for you and believe me it's a lot of fun to experiment.
